Darko Marinov's Why MailTo?

One of these days I'll explain why I put my email address in plain mailto instead of using the old approach:

fstobdf -s :7100 -fn -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--15-140-75-75-c-90-iso10646-1 >9x15.bdf
echo marinov@illinois.edu | pbmtext -font 9x15.bdf | pnmcrop | pnmtopng -interlace -transparent =grey >eil.png
# echo marinov@illinois.edu | pbmtext -font 9x15.bdf | pnmscale 3 | pnmcrop | pnmpad -white -right 2 -left 2 | pnmtojpeg -transparent =grey >ea.jpeg
# put link as <img src="eil.png" alt="lastname at state/university dot edu">

Meanwhile, I plead with you to also use plain mailto, which makes it easier for legit users to contact you and probably doesn't expose you to more spam because your email address is already in the spam databases.
